So it can be fair to say we did not win (end score was 20 – 3 to MKC)
But given we only had 6 players there were points where the team came together against all odds.

We’ve started the season with a fantastic 13-3 victory over Isis 3. However, yet again we gave our opponents a head start before we got our game heads on. We were one nil down until midway through the first half. Thankfully following a few tactical tweaks everything slotted into place and we never looked back (especially in the second half).

Oxford City 1 vs MK Bucks 2 |

A tough game. We got off to a good start and soon went into a 5-1 lead by half time, and we very much in control of the game. MK slowly hauled us back and drew level 5-5 with about 15 mins to go. We changed a lot of what were doing and scored a couple of quick goals, the effort of pulling back had obviously tired them, and they could not respond, with us ending up 11-7 winners. I was particularily impressed by the resilence of the team, working hard thoughout the game and not allowing the come back of MK to undermine their self confidence. Everyone played exceptionlly well and its very hard to single out an individual for man of the match, I give it to Michiel simply because he scored 5. |

Final score was 9 – 4 to Isis but to put this in context City 2 beat Isis 3 by 13 - 3 without any real trouble. It was also very clear that Isis hadnt expected the game to be as challenging as we made it - so well done!

Another tight game against arguable the strongest team, on paper anyway, in the division. Isis 1 got off to a good start and were always one goal ahead up until half time when they were 7-6 ahead.
We pulled it back to 9-9 with 15 mins to go, went two goals ahead, Isis pulled one back, but we managed to hold on to win 10-11. Again everyone played well, worked hard, and fought well for every 50/50 ball. It was a game characterised by good defence by both teams, people had to work really hard to create scoring opportunities.
Man of the match to Dave, again simply for scoring the most, but all were deserving. All things considered another excellent team performance. |

Oxford City 2 v Didcot Dragons (friendly) |

Didcot (with help from Reading , Isis and Dave “the turncoat” Everett ) certainly made this a sterner test than our last match and I was satisfied with our overall performance in a 6 – 4 victory. Unlike our last match we started the match with our game heads on and didn’t hand our opponents the lead. Again, we made a few tactical tweaks as the game unfolded. It is fantastic that we have a plan B and proves that we’re developing as a team.

It started badly for City 2 with the loss the coin toss but the bibs didn't seem to slow them down. First half ended 7 - 1 (to Oxford City 2) but the second half was much closer with City 3 defending hard and scoring more.

The score-line might not be the most exciting but 0-3 to Uni 2 has earnt us a point in the league! This is the first league point we have actually won in battle and there are a lot of positive things from this match.

Oxford City 2 v Abingdon 2 |

Final score was 6-6 which seemed a fair result. We were 2-0 up thanks to Jim after only 10 minutes (against a tardy Abingdon with only just 6). Half time was 4 - 3 to us and our defense was holding strong.
