Oxford City 2 v Abingdon 2
Written by Administrator

Final score was 6-6 which seemed a fair result.
We were 2-0 up thanks to Jim after only 10 minutes (against a tardy Abingdon with only just 6). Half time was 4 - 3 to us and our defense was holding strong.

There were occasionally some shocking passes (I know I remember the ones I made) and there was a terrible free pass where Sophie and Dave were both at the post (we should know better than this) but the team pulled together after these mistakes and we kept playing well in a quite physical game.

The key area to work on is our attack - I didn't see much 4-0 and this is the best way to have a controlled and successful game. I would like us to practice a normal 4-0 leading to the ball going over the top (the classic move) because we need to have everyone as a team confident with this. Getting the feed at the right time so the attack isn't static could win us this match next time around. Too often we were all out and static in attack.

But given Abingdon are an experienced side we kept them in check. Defensively we were excellent and everyone had moments when they played brilliantly. But we will need to take greater control of the game and move more in attack if we want to win. So we should all be proud of ourselves but not complacent. There is definitely room for improvement and we have some tough matches ahead.

Thank you to everyone for playing well (also thank you to Chloe and Becca for the side line support!).

Player of the match was Jim.
