Oxford City 2 v Oxford City 3

It started badly for City 2 with the loss the coin toss but the bibs didn't seem to slow them down. First half ended 7 - 1 (to Oxford City 2) but the second half was much closer with City 3 defending hard and scoring more.

Final score was 12 - 4 with City 2 deserving victors - perhaps the win was a bit predictable but the game felt closer and both teams worked hard for their goals. The oddest thing was that for the first half both teams and the ref were all members of the same club :)
So thank you to Dave for stepping up and reffing the first half! (suppose he is kind of impartial - equally biased??) - still don't know what happened there but it goes to show how important the ref is.

In terms of goals: City 2 had Tino as top scorer with 4, closely followed by Steve with 3. Michiel and Ev both scored two each in the first half. Gaz scored a beautiful long shot which I think was the last goal of the game.

City 3 goals were harder to find but Jim and Jen scored 2 a piece after a number of well supported attacks from their divisions. Mike made his Cheney debut and played fantastically - most notably in defense. Main issue was City 3 struggled to make goal scoring opportunities and even when they were created they didn't often go in. Dave W and Adrian particularly had memorable near goals.

Player of the match for City 2 was Ruth for playing a fantastic support role, constantly being in a good collect and feed position.

Player of the match for City 3 was Mike for displaying defensive talents far beyond his korfball years.
